I can't say "No" to projects that aren't a good fit! Why???
You know that funny feeling when a prospect is asking you to do things you can't do?
Things you don't want to do...
Things you have sworn to your manager, your boss, even your spouse that you’d never do...
again...?
Your brain says "No."
But your mouth says, "Sure! We can do that!"
And somewhere in heaven an angel lost its wings. 😔
Months later, you ask yourself, "Why didn't I say "no" to that job?"
Perhaps because you didn’t know:
- The questions you could've asked during discovery to disqualify the prospect and their project
- The required minimum revenue you need for accepting projects
- The profit margin you need to justify high-touch projects (at least 15% higher than average, at least!).
- Your sales numbers in general to know whether the project aligns with your KPI's
Or, simply, you don't know a polite, professional way to just say "no."
So, if you can’t say “no” when you should, do yourself a favor and find the answers to all of the above ASAP.
Because the more you "know," the easier it is to say "no."
And knowing is half the battle! 💪 (source: G.I. Joe)
